Exercise during pregnancy is safe- and may help you regain your pre-baby body!

Today I want to introduce Carin Brochu to our reading audience. Carin is a certified trainer and nutritionist, and will be providing material and answering questions related to these areas for our blog, as well as our monthly newsletters (wanna subscribe?- email me at drsoto@mac.com).

It has long been believed that exercise is unsafe for pregnant women.  Unfortunately for our female ancestors this belief is 100% myth. Under the supervision of a medical doctor and a certified training professional, not only is exercising safe, but also extremely beneficial while pregnant.

Beyond the first trimester there are certain precautions to take while exercising such as remaining in an upright position throughout exercise. This means you must never perform exercises that require you to lie on your back or your stomach. Also, there is a lower then normal heart rate limit due to the amount of blood flow necessary for the fetus. Luckily, a trained professional along with your medical doctor will be able to prescribe you a workout plan that is safe and extremely advantageous for you and your baby.

Benefits of exercising before labor include better health throughout pregnancy, a more comfortable delivery and the ability to return to your pre-baby body quicker and easier after delivery.

If you are currently pregnant or are planning to become pregnant: check into a safe exercise routine now. Proper planning today will bring you and your family a more pleasant tomorrow.
