Healthy Eating for Anti-Aging

Have you heard the saying that what you take into your body comes out on your skin?  Well this is true.  Consuming certain foods can help you fight the anti-aging battle that we all want to win.  The key to this is simple- make sure the foods you eat are nutrition-packed and rich in antioxidants.  Here are some suggestions to stock your fridge in a way that will keep your skin looking radiant and youthful!
Vibrant colored fruit and vegetables are going to contain high levels of antioxidants.  Avocado, spinach and orange colored squash are great items to look for in the vegetable aisle.  As far as fruits go, you will want to look for berries (especially blueberries) melons, kiwi and peaches.  Make sure your fruits and vegetables are as fresh as possible.  Three to five servings of vegetables and two to four servings of fruit are recommended daily.

Omega-3 essential fatty acids are your next ticket to anti-aging.  The most potent and effective omega-3’s, or fish oils, are found in fish such as salmon, mackerel, snapper and trout.  With its powerful ability to reduce inflammation, Omega-3’s are extremely beneficial to the skin, especially those who suffer with eczema, dermatitis or psoriasis.   They can also help replenish fats lost in the skin that lead to dryness or excessive flaking due to the polyunsaturated fats in fish oils.

Do not put aside your antioxidant creams and serums though!  They are still important.  We have to fight this battle from the inside as well as the outside since only so much of what we consume internally actually reaches our skin.  Diet and skincare complement each other so combine the two for the best outcome
