It’s hard enough dealing with the occasional breakout as a teenager, but many adults are still suffering from the embarrassing signs of acne, such as blackheads, whiteheads, bumpy skin and redness.
If your current skin care regime just isn’t cutting it, or you’d just like to see exactly how good your skin can look, we invite you to pay a visit to our Orlando Plastic Surgery and Skin Care center for a consultation with Amanda.
For recalcitrant acne, you may want to consider a treatment known as ALA + Blue Light Therapy.
Aminolevulinic acid (ALA) combined with non-invasive blue light therapy is used to effectively treat stubborn acne. ALA is a photosensitizing agent which causes your skin to be more susceptible to light.
The treatment begins with exfoliating the skin to remove any dead cells and debris. ALA is then applied to the face for 15 to 60 minutes (the length of time depends on the severity of the acne). The photosensitizing agent is removed and the blue light therapy begins. The blue light kills bacteria that causes acne and shrinks the skin’s oil glands reducing oil within the pores. This pain-free treatment also helps rehabilitate the overall texture of your skin including acne scarring.
Some patients notice a change in skin tone after just one treatment; However, three to five treatments are recommended for best results.
